Contaminated Water

water polution

A decade back then, I could drink the tap water directly from my home. But slowly, the world has changed. First, the water got smell. Then, it was mixed with colours. Now, I can no longer consume the tap water anymore. And yes, this is because of water pollution.

When water in the atmosphere mixes with certain chemicals – particularly sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides emitted during the burning of fossil fuels – mild acidic compounds are formed. This acid rain can leach toxic aluminium from the soil, which at low levels can stress fish in lakes and streams or, at higher concentrations, kill them.

Plastics and trash we throw can persist in the oceans for years. Some of this material accumulates in the centers of ocean gyres, creating great garbage patches. This litter can distribute toxic chemicals throughout the oceans, snag and tear corals, and even strangle animals if they ingest pieces of plastic or be trapped around their body.

Not only does this cause disaster for aquatic ecosystems, the pollutants also leak through and reach the groundwater, which might end up in our households as contaminated water we use in our daily activities, in my case, drinking.

We need to act for this precious liquid. To ease water pollution in the ocean, we reduce pollutants. To clean our domestic water, we filter. After years of degrading water quality, I am always cautious about what we drink.

Find a trustworthy water filter supplier to protect your family from water pollution.
